58-year-old Runner Collapsed and Died During Disney World Race

November 6, 2019

Last weekend, the annual game of Walt Disney World took a tragic change, when a 58-year-old man fell and died while driving 5K on Friday.

The competition is part of the Disney Wine and Dinner Half Marathon Weekend, which starts on Thursday and includes a variety of running activities until Sunday’s half marathon.

A Disney World spokesperson told the Orlando outpost on Monday that it was reported that the man collapsed in Epcot’s “imagined fantasies attracted to a bridge in front of the bathroom.” The medical examiner did not provide any other information about the man.

Another spokesperson for Walt Disney World Resort told Outlets on the weekend: “The heartbreaking loss is a source of sadness for us. In this difficult time, our thoughts on the runners’ families and loved ones. And sympathy still exists.”

A similar incident occurred in 2017 when a runner fell near the finish line of the half marathon.
